Tea cake with LASCO Frosted Flakes Streusel

  • ½ cup LASCO Vanilla Food Drink (powder)
  • ½ cup + 3 tbsps. Water
  • 1 tbsp LASCO white vinegar
  • ½ cup LASCO margarine
  • 1 cup Cream cheese; softened.
  • 1 ½ cups brown sugar; tightly packed
  • 2 large Eggs
  • 1 ½ tsp Vanilla extract
  • 2 ½ cups All-purpose flour
  • 2 tsps. Baking powder.
  • 1 tsp Cornstarch
  • ½ tsp Salt
Streusel Topping:
  • 2 cups LASCO Frosted Flakes
  • ¼ cup Margarine
  • ½ tsp Nutmeg
  • ½ tsp Cinnamon
For the Glaze:
  • ½ cup Icing sugar
  • 2-3 tsps. LASCO Vanilla Food Drink mix (reserve from above)


  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. Grease and lightly flour a 9” baking tin and set
  3. Prepare the streusel: Mix with a fork to combine the Frosted flakes, margarine, and spices. Set aside.
  4. Mix the LASCO Vanilla Food Drink powder with Reserve 3 tsps. of milk for the glaze. Mix the remaining LASCO Vanilla Food Drink mixture with vinegar and set aside.
  5. Use a mixer to cream together the margarine and cream cheese in a large bowl. Add Sugar. Beat until mixture is light and fluffy.
  6. Add the eggs, one at a time, beat well in between each addition. Scrape down the sides of the bowl with a spatula. Add vanilla.
  1. In a separate medium sized bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, cornstarch, and salt.
  2. Gradually add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients, alternating with the LASCO Vanilla Food Drink/vinegar mixture. Mix well.
  3. Spread the batter into the prepared baking

  5. Place in the preheated oven for 40-50 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the centre of the cake comes out clean. Cool completely.
  6. Whisk together the ingredients for the glaze. Drizzle over cake if desired. Serve with your favourite warm beverage.
